Flavors of black cherries, currants, and peppercorns link the aroma and taste sensations of the latest vintage of Five Blocks. Tempered, driving acid orients the tannins, reminiscent of cranberry compote and the neutral French oak barrels where the majority of this wine spent 18 months maturing. Composed of the barrels that aren’t chosen for either the block or vineyard designates this wine is, year to year, a reminder that the whole is more than the sum of its parts. Good to drink now or age 10 years, it should pair well with pork, roasted vegetables, risotto, or pretty much anything honestly. It’s friendly and plays well with others.
Boone McCoy-Crisp ~ winemaker
Dai Crisp grows all of the grapes used in our wines in USDA/Oregon Certified Organic vineyards. He has been farming vineyards this way for 25 years. This philosophy of using a natural approach with minimal intervention also predominantly influences our winemaker, Julia Cattrall.
